Last July 30 was definitely the best Tuesday of my life. The world was indeed beneath me during The XX's concert in Manila. It would probably take me a month to get over the concert. As a tribute to my undying love for the band, this outfit post features the band's shirt which I bought from the concert and the outfit I wore that night (since I promised that I will blog about it).
A concert like that was an event where hormones swell and burst.  Usual concert hangovers last about two days but THIS one would definitely last for weeks and months. In a developing country like ours, an avid fan like me would be willing to sell her soul just so she could have the chance to meet her favorite band.. so there I was standing in front of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, and Jamie Smith, all dressed in black and hardly smiling as they perform that night.
I can't totally narrate the whole night and arrive at the best ever written conclusion as to why it was the best concert I've ever been to because YOU JUST HAD TO BE THERE.

Every song that they played seemed like there was a special dynamic that was meant to put the audience into that feeling of being afloat. To put in the words of Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower, "and in that moment, I swear we were infinite".

You will know once you're in the zone when you start to notice that they sound 100x better live and that their songs manage to carry the gentleness of the studio versions.  It amazes me that the band was able to magnify the emotion contained in the compositions. Playing my personal favorites from the first album like “VCR,” “Heart Skipped A Beat,” and “Islands" with incredible light show was the most euphoric thing I've ever felt. Also, my best friend and I were shrieking and tearing up when they played Try and Angels from their album Co-exist. Haha.

The XX's trademark is minimalism. Their songs are distinguished for it, and the lack of big choruses and loud arrangements too. I guess that's the only reason I can come up with as to why I'm wearing all white again.. it's minimal and there is the lack of big and loud prints on my outfit.

I must admit that it is such a "blogger problem" of what to wear in a concert but I'm glad that it's not a Rihanna kind of concert or a Britney Spears one because I didn't have to wear something flashy or something so edgy.. For this concert, it was effortless.

In the age of iPhones and iPads being raised and blocking the view of the band— the kids worried about missing memories, but I realized that if I was too preoccupied with recording videos and taking photos, I'd actually miss the actual experience. It didn't hurt that I rested my arm for a while although it's comforting to know that there is still a way to make oneself feel infinite at any time and any place with just one click of a "replay".

Thank you to Lea (Click here for more photos on her blog) for taking my photos again and for giving me a wide variety of profile pictures. Haha. I'm so happy that every time I'm in Cebu, she takes the time to help me shoot for my blog.
